About

Thank you for visiting my page about everyday intentional nourishing!

Nourishment is not just about food but the whole experience around eating. The social and emotional aspects that if ignored can leave us feeling hungry even after we've eaten a full meal.

What is "intentional nourishing"? It's not a diet or a fad. This is just my journey of trying to be intentional about nourishing my body and my family. I focus on health, nutrition, weight management and feeding my loved ones. I mean this to be a recount of my experience, not a diet for someone else to follow.

I'm a foodie and half Italian on my mom's side. I learned to cook at an early age and often express my creativity in the kitchen. I also happen to have several food sensitivities (myself and family members) as well as challenged by autoimmune and thyroid issues. I am having to learn a new way to appreciate food and re-establish a positive working relationship with my body.

None of the stories on here are meant to be medical or diet advice. This is just what I'm doing each day. To see how it works, you'll just have to keep up often and follow my journey.

I hope to bring you value through my successes and my learning experiences. I hope you'll share yours as well.

Sara's Background

I have a degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology as well as 8 years experience working in a medical lab. I am a scholar of nutritional theory and you can see my recommended reading list for some of my favorite references and guides that have shaped my journey. (coming soon)

I am a wife and mother to 2. I currently stay at home with my young children. I homeschool and have a successful home business as an independent member of a reputable supplement company. This blog is not intended to promote those products but I might mention them occasionally because they are a part of my everyday life and wellness routine. Please see my full disclaimers on the right hand side of this blog.

Approach

After years of personal study of different medical approaches and diet books, and a lot of self-experimentation, I have come to the conclusion that there is no perfect diet for everyone. There also is no perfect diet for any one person. What may have worked before may not work today. I could lose weight in college not eating simple carbs after lunch, it isn't so easy now.

My primary goal is complete nutrition for myself and my family, and to share this with like-minded people who share these passions. We are challenged by the food sensitivities and strive for a nourishing experience in and around food despite the restrictions.

I am under the care of a functional medicine nurse practitioner. I also find there is a place for allopathic care, and integrative approaches. I believe in holistic approaches, looking at the big picture and that all body systems are interrelated. I believe that there is no magic pill that counters poor lifestyle choices.
